MEET OUR LIL ATHLETES STAFF
Bret Suffis: Owner of Lil Athletes Sports Inc. With over 8 years of teaching preschool-aged children, Bret continually teaches classes with enthusiasm and passion. Growing up, Bret played High School Baseball and Basketball in Queens, NY, and excelled in his knowledge of the game Having obtained his masters degree in Physical Education, Bret’s passion for teaching has led him to teaching over a 1,000 classes and 4 different sports. His vision is simple; children should learn and have fun doing so in every class in our program. Teaching sports to this age is a special skill, Bret and his staff work very hard to make sure children are in a positive environment and all coaches serve as role models.
Jennifer Suffis: Currently obtaining her masters degree in early childhood education, Coach Jen is a great addition to the Lil Athletes staff. Since the age of 4 years old, Jennifer has been active in all sports, especially taking a liking to Volleyball, Soccer, and Basketball. Jen was a collegiate athlete, playing Volleyball for Division 1 Sacred Heart University and has 4 years of coaching experience. She has great knowledge of sports and teaches class with confidence and passion.
Steven Madeloni: My name is Coach Steve Madeloni, one of the Program Director’s at Lil Athletes. I have a passion for athletics and share this passion with the students of Lil Athletes. Throughout my 25 years of coaching experience, I have coached 1,000’s of children in all sports from ages 18 months-12 years. I love all sports but favorites are Hockey, Football, and Baseball.
Charlie Marino: My name is Coach Charlie, and I have been with Lil Athletes for 3 years teaching all sports. I’m also the current baseball director at WEST and coach an 11u travel team. In High School, I was a 2- time all conference shortstop at Bethpage High School and played on the nationally ranked Bayside Yankees. I love teaching young kids and being a positive role model for them.
Ian Morales: My name is Coach Ian Morales. I was a 4-year Varsity starting pitcher for Huntington High School. After HS, I moved on to play for Pace University and Nassau Community College where I played Right field and batted a combined .410. I have been teaching children ages 3 & up since 2002, and currently coach a 10u competitive travel baseball team in Huntington. I also am the founder of “Power Surge Baseball” (Ages 5.5-8 years) where graduated Lil’ Athlete Baseball players can continue their love of baseball and learn the game the right way!
Lauren Maksym: My name is Coach Lauren, I played almost every sport growing up. I continued with soccer, lacrosse and winter track throughout High School. I played Division I lacrosse at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. I have worked camps, worked as a PE teacher and coach at a boarding school in England and babysat for many years. I really want my kids to have fun and be very active in my classes. I hope I can introduce them to new sports and skills.
Emily Lyons: Hi my name is Coach Emily and I love playing sports. My favorite sports are beach volleyball and softball. I am currently working for my degree as a physical education teacher.
Franchesca Trabacchi: My name is Coach Franchesca I started playing Soccer once I learned how to walk, and its been part of my life ever since. Even though soccer is my main sport, I also played volleyball, lacrosse, and softball during middle & high school. In the past I’ve trained kids ages 2-8 in the sport of soccer. I love working with kids, and making sure they have a fun experience, while learning the sport. I’m a huge New York Rangers fan, as well as a huge New York Jets fan.
Meghan Walters: My name is Coach Meghan Walter, and I have been coaching preschool age children for 6 years. I’m currently the head varsity softball coach at Hauppauge High School, as well as coaching and playing with a travel team during the summer months. I love Softball, but I have a vast experience in coaching all sports, including Soccer, football, and basketball!
Rachel Wilkinson: My name is Coach Rachel, and I’ve played soccer since age 5 and played on travel teams on the Island for Dix Hills and Cow Harbor. My love of soccer continued through middle school/high school team where I played competitively. I started lacrosse in second grade then played on a Harborfields travel team which led me to play in middle school and high school. I’ve work at WEST Sports for about 2 years where I have led many sporting events including tournaments, birthday parties and training classes.
